The Foundation focuses on women’s equity across Western Canada. Rooted in both research and action, we amplify women’s voices, bridge service and policy gaps, create grant programs, and foster bold collaboration across Alberta and British Columbia.
Through platforms like the SHE Speaks: Unmuted Podcast, SHE Speaks Journal, the Western Canada Women’s Conference on Gender Equity Research, TEDxWomen and the Western Canada Women's Film Festival, we amplify truth-telling, leadership, and community-driven solutions. Our Western Canada Women’s Leadership Council offers expert insight on advisory committees and leads annual women's knowledge exchanges to advance systemic change both locally and nationally.
We work at both the grassroots and systems levels to ensure women’s realities, knowledge, and needs are front and centre.
The Western Canada Women’s Foundation is a dynamic, growing coalition dedicated to advancing women’s equity throughout British Columbia’s Interior and across Western Canada. By bridging research, lived experience, and policy, WCWF elevates the voices of women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals through powerful platforms.
The Foundation operates at both grassroots and systemic levels, serving as a trusted advisor to governments, funders, and community organizations to shape equitable policies and funding priorities. Through collaborative advocacy, evidence-based action, and annual gatherings, WCWF not only informs policy and amplifies community voices but also builds resilient networks committed to transformative, intersectional change across the region.
The Western Canada Women’s Foundation acknowledges that our work takes place across the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of many Indigenous Nations throughout British Columbia and Alberta. We recognize the deep and enduring impacts of colonization, systemic racism, and gender-based violence on Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people, and we commit to advancing reconciliation through action.
Our work is guided by the voices, knowledge, and leadership of Indigenous women and communities. We strive to build relationships rooted in respect, reciprocity, and accountability. Ensuring that the programs, policies, and advocacy we undertake contribute to healing, equity, and justice. We acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we commit to walking it with humility, courage, and a willingness to listen and learn.
